Software Reviews of Corel Ulead VideoStudio 11.5 Plus [OLD VERSION]Customer Review: VERY easy to use! Summary: 4 StarsI found this software very easy to use. I had been using Windows MovieMaker but found I had constant problems with saving file. Uline was VERY easy -- very intuitive and with lots of features I hadn't even thought of (like changing the file format and file sharing to YouTube etc). I uploaded files from a Kodak Easyshare without any problem. It took almost no looking through the instructions to get it up and running and a video saved and sent off. If you are a total newbie or experienced at video making, I think you'll find Uline a valuable tool.
Customer Review: Easy enough considering broad functionality Summary: 5 StarsI'm running the product on a Celeron processor at 2.5GHz, which is slower than specified for the software. Previews are not perfect for me (doesn't show all the frames and the sound is a little off pace) but the MPEG files I produce are fine, as are the DVDs I burn. No coasters yet! The sequencing of tasks is logical and well done. I have no idea whether HD is a problem, since I do MPEG 640x480. The Multi-Trim editing is very well done, down to the level of individual frames. The library of "effects" (like fade wipes between clips) is very large and fun to play with. The titling capabilities include lots of animations, also fun to play with.
Customer Review: Solid Video Editor--Great for Smart Beginners Who Want a Lot of Power & Flexibility Summary: 4 StarsThis package really gives you a lot of flexibility with an EASY to understand interface. I've tried more complicated editors like Adobe Premiere, and, while I can use those to a degree, there is far less guess work and tedium involved with Ulead for the average person. One of the BEST parts about this is how compatible it is with basically every video format I've thrown at it--and its ability to output quickly and easily in very usable formats (Adobe was the worst at this, making it very hard to make normal, internet-friendly files).
I haven't explored everything, but I've edited a number of videos now with Ulead, and I have yet to be disappointed. Definitely worth your money.
Note: I didn't try any of the HD functionality for this review.
Customer Review: Junk, and that's being generous... Summary: 1 StarsAfter experiencing continued nagging problems with my Roxio Media Creator software , I decided to try another brand of media software Corel Ulead VideoStudio 11.5 Plus [AMAZON.COM EXCLUSIVE]. Big mistake! My first (test) project with VideoStudio 11.5+ included a title, one still image and a short video clip, a total of six seconds. This six second video was 99% completed (rendered) in approximately 8.5 minutes. After watching the process for another 15 minutes, waiting for that last one percent, I found that my entire system was locked up! Had to unplug the computer to stop it! Amazon has now lowered the price of this software another $10. When the price gets down to two cents a copy, it might be worth trying. As it is, I'm out 49.99 plus tax for something that doesn't work.
Customer Review: Easy to use Summary: 4 StarsI primarily use this for creating photo slideshows with the occasional video clip thrown in. It works great for slideshows because you can preset some parameters such as transitions, time, etc. then just insert all your photos and voila; you have a great preliminary slideshow to tweak. It's pretty intuitive to use. I haven't had the need to look in the user guide yet. The only fault I've seen so far is for some reason it doesn't close properly when your done working with the application. The next time you open up your project it would ask if you want to repair your project. It would quickly regenerate the project and everything is okay again.
