Software Reviews of Corel Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus [OLD VERSION]Customer Review: Corel as good as any of them I guess. Summary: 2 StarsBottom line for all people who want to edit, copy, or create movies with your computer: All software developers lie about what their product will do and how easy it is to do it with their program.
Face it, computers do not do video well, and even with the big fast machines like I have, they do not (even) come close to the promises of the sellers.
I went to Corel's web site, carefully studied their promises, "It will do all of this wonderfully!" and bought both of the latest programs they offer. A lot of money for very poor to marginal performance.
One evaluator said it well, "Download and spend a lot of time on the paperwork of how to attempt to make it work, if it will at all."
I never did hang my machine, but it was a waste of well over $100 for them both. Corel's Ulead was a lot better than my Roxio and some others though..... if that makes one feel better.
Yep, another evaluator was right: Customer support does not actually exist no mater what they may tell you in the propaganda. I am a full Corel fan, no matter what this may sound like: Word Perfect forever! Ha ha! But, Ulead? Not so good.
Customer Review: Easy to understand Summary: 5 StarsI demo'd the Sony Vegas and there is no way I wanted to get on that learning curve, even though I have a sony camera. The Roxio product I used in the past was very easy to understand, but the bad reviews scared me away from an upgrade for HD. I took a chance on this product, because I always thought WordPerfect was more intuitive than Word. So Corel has a good track record.
I had no problem creating a good dvd with transitions on my first try without reading the manual. The program gives you three options for creating simple or complex edits. I used the complex edit option. The program was stable and the dvd rendering and burn was quick. The program worked without slowing down or hanging. That said, I suggest you don't complain like others do, if you have a slow computer. Part of the ease of use probably was linked to my fast quad processor, 3 gigs of ram and fast, latest generation video card.
Customer Review: Caution-try before you Buy Summary: 3 StarsI purchased Videostudio 11+ to be run on my newer Athlon 64 based PC. However after attempting to load it many times and after several calls to Corel/Ulead Tech Services I was never able to get it to run on that PC. I had to load it on an older Athlon XP model PC, where it ran fine. If you intend to use this program, download the test version from the Corel Web site and test it first! If the test version runs, the CD based version should also run as well. The program does what it advertises and is easy to use.
Customer Review: I keep getting an Unexpected error and support has not responded? Summary: 1 StarsAlmost $100 for software and two hours into creating a video I get an Unexpected error and the project is deleted. I have emailed Corel/Ulead tech support and nothing. Absolutely no response. What a waste of money. I installed the software on two computers and the exact, same issue on both computers.
Customer Review: Easy to use software Summary: 5 StarsOverall this is a very easy software to learn. I was able to install it and work with my files after bumping around a bit without using the manual. The only aspect of this software I did not like is compatiblity with it's Movie Factory counterpart. After editing my video I attempted to import my saved files directly into MF 6.0+ and it could not recognize the file. Other then that VideoStudio 11.0 Plus is a very easy, fairly powerful program. I would recommend it to anyone just starting out or looking to do basic to moderate video editing. For the price you can't go wrong.
